What's Up With Evangelism?

I was getting ready to go to bed one night when I sensed a strange urge inside of me to go hug my brother.Coming from an Argentinian family where this kind of effection was not normal, I began to wonder why this unusual thought wouldn't leave me alone? After arguing with God about the uncomfortable task I sensed he had given me I decided to just go get it over with. So I went to my older brother's room and knocked on the door. I was welcomed in and quickly and awkwardly told him"God told me to give you a hug". Once the mission was accomplished I simply left the room and went to bed feeling at ease.
Years later I heard my brother tell the story of a season in his life where he was struggling with his faith and at the point of giving up on God completely. One night wrestling with the weight of depression he cried out to God,"if you are real, where are you"? Then I walk into the room.
This experience brought about a transformation in my brother's life and his faith was fully restored and even strengthened through those dark times, particularly due to that small voice asking me to go do something that at the moment seemed rather insignificant.
This was a story shared by one of the discipleship school students I was able to teach last week. I facilitated an activity where I had each student ask God to remind them of a moment where they saw his power actively working in their lives, then they were to create something to express that specific moment. With total creative freedom the students were able to make literally anything their hearts felt like. They were provided with some basic art supplies and off they went. Some made collages, drawings and this specific story about the hug became the beautiful inspiration for a song written and performed on guitar the next day.
So what happened last week?
Last week was the first time I had taught a full week of classes in a YWAM discipleship training school (DTS). I was honored and quite nervous at first when YWAM Barcelona invited me to teach on evangelism in this year's DTS. Thankfully I had plenty of time to prepare my material and different activities to keep the class fun and engaging. Due to the quarantine the class was held virtually through online platforms. I decided to title the teaching"what's up with evangelism"because together we were able to address some of the fears and hard questions that come up when talking about this challenging topic. The student's hunger to learn and grow in their love and the ability to share the Gospel made for a very fun experience. Not only did the students express that they learned and grew a lot, but I also felt greatly encouraged. What a better way to spend my quarantined mornings than to talk about the beauty of the Gospel and the opportunity we have to spread the good news of Jesus to the world.
The experience of teaching was really cool, I was able to refer to my notes but often felt the Lord leading me to emphasize a specific topic or bringing me stories to share through which I was able to encourage the students. Thank you to everyone who was praying for the week of teaching, I could feel the closeness of God and the spirits leading as I shared my heart.
Below are photos from last week!
ENJOY

I leave you with a glimpse into my virtual love life. This is the outcome of a video date with Loida, she never ceases to amaze me with her creativity and skills.
Thank you so much for reading, until next time!
