The summer months in Barcelona are warm, festive and yet very relaxed. Most of the country is on vacation and almost everything closes down for the month of August. YWAM Barcelona also shut down for the summer but I chose to stay active with the Calling All Skaters crew, the vision of the art department and running the photography space for skaters (PanamaLab). These last two months have been blessed and more people from the local skate community are starting to come to the lab and getting inspired. Little by little God is directing this project and bringing more people into our community of skateboarding artists.

SUMMER FUN

While everyone else is away on vacation the city is alive with skateboarding, the hype never dies in Barcelona. All summer you have hundreds of skaters visiting this city, skating the top spots and enjoying the beaches. I continue to go out skating multiple times a week to connect with guys and girls in the streets, always taking my camera along to shoot photos and capture the special moments. Being "in the street" will always be a continual part of the vision of our ministry, staying connected and building relationships with the skaters here is key to sharing the Love of Jesus in a real way.

PANAMA LAB - CAS ART DEPARTMENT

Pioneering can be scary and also very exciting! I remember the feelings of fear leading up to the start of PanamaLab, a photography space/lab to inspire skaters in their creativity. Once the ball starts rolling and you take that first step God leads the way and there is nothing to do but to trust and keep taking steps forward into what the Lord is doing. This is what is happening with PanamLab.

HOW IS GOD USING PANAMA LAB? As I mentioned earlier I believe that building relationships with skaters is key, my personal call to this is through intentionally serving the skateboarding community with the gifts God has given me. I am looking to fulfill that call through running PanamaLab, a place where skaters are encouraged in their creativity and can learn the art of photography in a community environment. Bringing skaters together through Art is powerful and I believe it is a great platform for sharing Jesus. I have been blessed with opportunities to shoot photos with some on the top skaters here in Barcelona and have had favor with the skateshop owners that could lead to doing photography work for them in the future. I see all of this as a blessing from God and opportunity to influence those that I am around and bring the kingdom of God to these places where the Lord has opened doors. Please pray for me to be wise, discerning and bold in these times to speak the truth of God at the opportune moment.
