The BACKBONE.

Backbone - the chief support of a system or organization.

Why the backbone? If you follow my updates regularly you hear a lot about Calling All Skaters, local and global skate ministry and probably quite a bit about PanamaLab... I am sharing the definition of the word backbone because it expresses the role of YWAM Barcelona and how it provides support for Calling All Skaters. Ok let me explain. Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is the mother organization that Calling All Skaters (CAS) operates under, we are an extension of YWAM. I want to devote this blog post to sharing what YWAM does in Barcelona and why I feel so privileged to be a part of this organization.

To start off I want to share the Vision and Mission of YWAM Barcelona.

Our Vision - We want to see healthy leaders bringing the kingdom of God in every subculture.

Our Mission - We plan to accomplish our vision:​

“By inviting people into our community in Barcelona and training them to be healthy leaders.”

“Through sending our leaders to influence, disciple and bring the Kingdom of God into everything we do, from Catalonia to the whole of Europe and around the world.”

YWAM is a worldwide community of believers devoted to KNOWING GOD AND MAKING HIM KNOWN. I am grateful to be a part of a movement that is so committed to people. Being a project oriented person, I love how my close friends at YWAM constantly remind me that ministry is about PEOPLE NOT PROJECTS. If my projects aren't directed towards investing in people, the projects are probably not worth my time and effort. Being part of a healthy body means keeping each other accountable and focused on what truly matters.

Since day one YWAM Barcelona has supported the vision of CAS to share the message of Jesus with the skateboarding community of Barcelona. The first discipleship school held by YWAM Barcelona was actually in 2015 and was a CAS school that I came from Panama to help staff. That was my intro to this beautiful community that I now call my family. I have been serving here for the last two years and couldn't be happier. God has used YWAM BCN to challenge, champion and love me very well. I am so thankful to have a healthy backbone!

It would be impossible to share all the details about the ministries of YWAM Barcelona, so I will be including some trimestrial video updates from last year that show a lot of whats happening here.

PRAYER REQUESTS FOR YWAM BARCELONA

- Financial provision as we step out in faith trusting that God will provide for our facilities.

- More staff and volunteers (there is a lot of work to be done keeping the backbone strong).

- Spiritual growth (we are very young and need more of Jesus if we want to see real transformation).

- Spiritual impact (for the our active ministries that rely on the move of the Holy Spirit to bear fruit).
